Aeropostale gives a $10 birthday CashPass to rewards members at the Insider tier and above, and the free Member tier doesn’t get it. The catch is the way into Insider: you spend $100 at a participating brand in a calendar year, or you hold a JCPenney credit card. You also need to be 18 or older and living in the US or Puerto Rico.
What Aeropostale Is
Aeropostale’s About page opens with the date: “Established in 1987”. It describes the company as “a specialty retailer of casual apparel and accessories” aimed at young men and women. The rewards program isn’t an Aeropostale-only club anymore. The terms say the program is “provided by Catalyst Brands LLC”, and the two participating brands are JCPenney and Aeropostale, so points and bonus events are shared between them.
How To Get The Aeropostale Birthday Deal
Join the rewards program on Aeropostale’s site or app. The rewards page says “Join For Free,” and the terms say you must be at least 18 “(or the age of legal majority where you live).” The program is “available only to customers within the United States, including Puerto Rico.” Put your birthday on your account, because the terms require “a birthday date on file with your Loyalty Program account.”
What The Birthday Reward Is Worth
The rewards page has a section called “Birthday Love” that reads “Your day = $10 CashPass gift.” Right under it is a note: “**Insider and above.” The tier chart repeats the amount: Insider (spend $100 per year), Elite (spend $300 per year) and VIP (spend $1,000 per year) each list a “$10 Birthday Bonus.” The Member tier, for spending $0 to $99 a year, lists no birthday line at all. The terms spell the tier rule out: “Insider tier members receive a $10 birthday CashPass, access to Bonus Events, and invitations to exclusive in-store events.”
How You Reach Insider
The terms give two doors: “A member qualifies for the Insider tier by either (a) spending $100 at any Participating Brand within a calendar year or (b) being a JCPenney Credit Card or JCPenney Mastercard cardholder.” Because the program is shared, a $100 spent at JCPenney counts toward Insider as well as one spent at Aeropostale. Tiers follow the calendar year, so a purchase early in the year is the simplest way to be sure you’ve reached the tier before your birthday month.
When It Arrives
The terms say “You can earn a CashPass each year on your birthday as an Insider, Elite, or VIP tier member,” and “You will receive your Birthday CashPass on or about the first day of the month of your birthday.” If you join late, there’s no catch-up: “One Birthday CashPass per account per year, except if you sign-up after your birthday, you will have to wait until the next year.” CashPasses go to the email on your account, “within approximately twenty-four (24) hours from the time your CashPass is earned.”
Limits To Check First
There’s one more condition on the birthday reward. You must have “earned Points within the last twelve (12) months,” or, if you’re a JCPenney cardholder, be in good standing and have used the card for a purchase in that same 12-month stretch. A member who hit Insider early in the year but hasn’t bought anything recently could miss it. The terms also say “Each CashPass states the date upon which it expires,” and they give no fixed lifespan for the birthday one, so read the date on yours when it arrives. On the Aeropostale side, the terms cap CashPass use at $15 per transaction, so a $10 reward fits.
The Welcome CashPass Is A Separate Offer
New members can get something right away: “Get a $5 CashPass to start.” It has to be chosen at the start, since “If the Welcome CashPass option is not selected during the initial sign-up process, it will not be offered again later.” The terms say it lands in your account within about 48 hours. It doesn’t count as the birthday reward, and it’s redeemable only at Aeropostale.
What Was Actually Checked
Aeropostale’s rewards page, the loyalty program terms (last updated June 15, 2026) and the About page were read on 2026-10-06 through headless Chrome, because a plain page fetch came back with an Access Denied status. The rewards page also carries a few stale banner lines about old challenges. They aren’t part of the birthday offer, and the birthday amounts here come from the terms.
Eligibility and Cost
Membership is free. You need to be 18 or older in the US or Puerto Rico, with a birthday on file. To get the $10 birthday reward you also need the Insider tier or higher.
