Caribou Coffee’s birthday reward posts automatically, but a dormant account gets nothing. You need a check-in within the last six months for it to actually arrive.
What Caribou Coffee Is
Caribou Coffee is a coffeehouse chain known for its Minnesota roots and its Caribou Perks loyalty program, serving coffee, espresso drinks and baked goods. Founded in Edina, Minnesota in 1992, it has grown to become one of the larger coffeehouse chains outside the Starbucks/Dunkin’ scale, with a lodge-themed store aesthetic tied to its name.
How To Get The Caribou Coffee Birthday Deal
To get it, join Caribou Perks and add your birthday. Make sure you’ve checked in (a purchase logged through the app) within the last 6 months, or the reward won’t post. It appears on your birthday itself and expires 7 days later.
What Was Actually Checked
The Caribou Perks Program Terms and Conditions (effective 2026-08-04) confirm the reward posts on your birthday and expires 7 days after. The terms also require a check-in within the previous 6 months for the reward to apply, an activity requirement most competitors in this category don’t have. The program otherwise earns points redeemable for drinks and food on a standard per-dollar basis.
Why The Check-In Requirement Matters
An account with your birthday on file isn’t enough by itself here. If you haven’t visited in over six months, the birthday reward simply won’t post, even though the program otherwise looks like a standard sign-up-and-wait benefit. This makes Caribou a program worth checking in on occasionally even outside your birthday, just to keep the account active for when it matters.
