Birthday rewards cluster: a reader with a June birthday may be holding four or five offers at once, all expiring around the same time, and some go unused simply because there isn’t enough to buy.
The half-birthday reward has no such crowding. It’s the closest thing to a free $15 that a retail loyalty program hands out, and it exists because Madewell chose to split its birthday budget across two dates instead of one.
