How To Get The Madewell Birthday Deal
Create an account at madewell.com or sign up with an associate in a store. The FAQ says “The program is entirely free to join” with “no minimum spending amount required.” Then put your birthday on the account. The terms say it must be on file “at least three days before the start of the birthday month,” and the Insider page rewards you for doing it: “Add your birthday to your account and score 50 points.” The terms also require you to be “opted in to receive marketing communications,” because the offer comes by email.
What You Get And When
The benefits chart lists “Birthday gift: $25 off” and “Half-birthday gift: $15 off” with a mark in all three columns: free to join, spend $500+ and spend $1000+. That’s up to $40 a year without spending anything. The FAQ describes the birthday part this way: members “will be invited to redeem a birthday surprise during the month of their birthday,” with a notice sent by email, and “Instructions on redemption will be provided in the email.” The terms add that the offer “is only valid during the birthday month.” So the page’s “on the big day” means a month-long window, and you’ll want to look for the email at the start of your birthday month.
What The Half Birthday Looks Like
The $15 half-birthday gift appears on the Insider page and its chart, and nowhere else we read. The terms’ Birthday Offer section covers one offer, during the birthday month, and doesn’t mention a half birthday, a date for it, or how long it lasts. We can tell you what the chart says, but not when it arrives. Rewards earned from points “will expire forty-five (45) days after issuance,” and the FAQ says the same, though the terms never say whether that clock applies to birthday gifts.
Points And Tiers
Members also earn “1 point per $1 spent,” and for every 250 points you get $10 in Rewards. That works out to 4% back on what you spend, and the FAQ adds that “you’ll always receive double points when you purchase jeans.” The tiers follow your spending each calendar year: free to join, $500 or more for Star and $1000 or more for Icon. Star and Icon add things like triple point days and a free gift with purchase twice a year. Expedited shipping goes to Icon only.
What The Old Post Claimed
An earlier version of this post said both rewards land automatically once your birth date is on your account, that Madewell publishes no deadline for adding it and no window for using the rewards, and that Star members get expedited shipping. The pages we read say otherwise: you’re invited by email to redeem during your birthday month, the birthday has to be on file three days before that month starts, the offer is only valid during the birthday month, and expedited shipping is an Icon benefit. The $25 and $15 amounts and the 250-points-for-$10 math held up.
What Was Actually Checked
Madewell’s Insider page, Insider FAQ, loyalty terms and About page were read on 2026-10-12. The terms are marked “Last Updated: 2/24/2025.” The FAQ answers are collapsed on the live page, so they were read from the page’s own FAQ listing. The terms say “Additional terms and conditions may apply” to the birthday offer, and no minimum purchase or exclusion list for the birthday gift appears in anything we read.
