Say you join a clothing brand’s rewards program the week of your birthday, expecting a birthday discount by email. At Shopbop it won’t come until next year, because the page says to join at least a month ahead, and Anthropologie also pushes it to next year if you sign up during your birthday month. Madewell gives $25 off, plus $15 at your half birthday, and Theory lists 15% off at its free level. Lacoste starts its birthday discount at Level 2, about $100 of spending, and Shopbop starts at Silver, which is $300. Von Maur gives bonus points on a day you pick, and FARFETCH promises a special discount without saying how big. All seven were checked on October 12, 2026, against each brand’s own pages. Theory’s and Lacoste’s come from archived copies, because both sites refused our requests, so look at theory.com and lacoste.com for the current percentages. Terms change, so check the brand’s page before you go.

Free to join, with no spending needed
Madewell: $25 off for your birthday and $15 off for your half birthday, marked for every Madewell Insider tier, including the free one, for U.S. residents 18 or older. Your birthday has to be on file at least three days before your birthday month starts, and you have to be opted in to Madewell’s marketing emails, since the offer arrives by email and is only valid during the birthday month. The pages don’t say when the half-birthday gift arrives.
Anthropologie: an extra 20% off in your birthday month through AnthroPerks, which is free to join with no purchase required. The 20% appears only in a picture description on the program page, and the terms and FAQ don’t repeat it, so go by the code in your email. Your birthday has to be on file at least 16 days ahead, the email arrives about two weeks before your birthday, and the code is valid for 45 days from when it’s issued. Sign up during your birthday month and the discount comes the following year.
Theory: 15% off for free myTheory members and 20% off for Gold and Platinum members, per an archived copy of its program terms. The free Silver level is open to anyone with a valid email address, while Gold takes $750 of spending and Platinum takes $1500, counted over the calendar year you enroll plus the year after. It covers full-price items only, at theory.com for U.S. shipping and in Theory’s U.S. stores. The pages don’t say how far ahead to join or how the offer reaches you.
Discounts that start after you’ve spent
Lacoste: 15% off at Level 2 and 20% off at Level 3 through Le Club Lacoste, per archived copies of its terms and club page. Membership is free, Level 2 starts at 1,000 points and Level 3 at 5,000, and $1 earns 10 points, so Level 2 is about $100 of spending. Level 1 members get no birthday offer. The terms say the email arrives on your birthday yet make it valid from 14 days before to 45 days after, so watch your inbox from two weeks out. It leaves out sale items and delivery fees, needs no minimum purchase, and in your first year you can’t get it within 14 days of creating your account.
Shopbop: 10% off at Silver, 15% at Gold and 20% at Platinum, and Bronze members get nothing. Yours Truly Shopbop Rewards is free, but Silver starts at $300 of spending since December 1 of the previous year, Gold at $1,000 and Platinum at $5,000. Join at least a month before your birthday, or the discount waits until next year. It lasts through the last day of your birth month, applies only to full-priced products, and leaves out beauty and 27 brands, including Gucci and Prada.
Points, or a discount with no amount
Von Maur: 2x, 3x or 4x points on one day of your choice in your birthday month, for Silver, Gold and Platinum members of Von Maur Rewards, which is built around the Von Maur charge card. Silver starts at $500 of spending, Gold at $2,500 and Platinum at $25,000, and Blue members get no birthday reward. It’s bonus points, not a discount code, and a regular point is worth about a cent. The pages don’t say whether you can join without the card or how the bonus day is picked, so ask in a store.
FARFETCH: a birthday reward that FARFETCH Access describes as a special discount for your birthday month, with no amount, no code and no tier named on any page we read. Access is free for anyone 18 or older. The terms say you’re enrolled when you create an account, while one FAQ says it happens after your first purchase, so plan on a first order. Your Access dashboard lists the rewards you have, so check it for what the discount is and which tier gets it.
