Abercrombie & Fitch lists a “Special Birthday Surprise” as a perk of its free loyalty program, myAbercrombie, but it doesn’t say what the surprise is. The terms give no amount, percentage, code or delivery method, so this post can tell you who qualifies and when, and not what’s in the box. The program’s name changed, and it’s no longer called A&F Club.
What Abercrombie & Fitch Is
The company’s corporate About page says “Abercrombie & Fitch Co. (NYSE: ANF) is a leading, global, omnichannel specialty retailer of apparel and accessories for men, women and kids through five renowned brands.” Wikipedia adds that the retailer was “founded in 1892.” Its loyalty program covers the adult line and the kids line: “Welcome to the loyalty program for Abercrombie & Fitch and abercrombie kids (“A&F”), myAbercrombie.”
How To Get The Abercrombie Birthday Deal
You may already be in. The terms say “individuals who have an active online account with A&F are already Members in myAbercrombie.” The program “is currently only available to residents of the United States age fourteen (14) and older.” So the step that matters is having an account, with your birthday on it, and then waiting out the account’s first 30 days.
What The Terms Say About Birthdays
The perks list in the terms reads “Points can be earned towards a Reward,” then “Special Birthday Surprise,” then “Special Member only pricing, discounts, and rewards.” Nothing else about the surprise is defined. There’s no dollar figure, no percent, no promo code, no validity window and no minimum purchase, and the terms don’t say whether it comes by email, in your account or in the app.
The 30-Day Waiting Period
One rule is clear. The terms say “Special Birthday Surprises cannot be earned until your myAbercrombie account has been open for at least 30 days. If a new Member’s birthday falls during the 30-day waiting period, they will not receive a Special Birthday Surprise for that calendar year. Members who have existing accounts, or new Members whose birthday falls outside the 30-day waiting period will receive their Special Birthday Surprise.” If your birthday is close, open the account more than a month before it.
Where You Can Use Rewards
The terms say “Rewards are valid only in the U.S. in stores and online.” They don’t say whether the birthday surprise counts as a reward under that sentence, so treat it as a US benefit and check the message you receive.
What Used To Be Said Here
An earlier version of this post described the program as A&F Club, a one-account setup shared with Hollister, and a code sent by email. The current terms contradict the shared account: Hollister runs a separate program called House Rewards with its own terms. The old program URL no longer works either. Because the terms never state a code or an email, none is described here.
What Was Actually Checked
The myAbercrombie terms (marked “Updated: April 2026”), the corporate About page and Wikipedia were read on 2026-10-06. A plain page fetch of abercrombie.com returned only a challenge page, so the terms were read through headless Chrome. The heavier myAbercrombie program pages timed out in Chrome, and that was a timeout rather than a refusal, so the terms are the source for everything above.
Eligibility and Cost
Membership is free for US residents 14 and older with an online account. The birthday surprise requires an account open for at least 30 days before your birthday.
Q&A
Q: Does Abercrombie give a birthday gift?
A: The terms list a “Special Birthday Surprise,” but they don’t say what it is.
Q: How much is it worth?
A: The terms don’t state an amount, so there’s no honest number to give.
Q: Do I need to sign up for anything?
A: An active online account makes you a member already.
Q: What if my account is new?
A: It has to be open at least 30 days before your birthday, or you miss that calendar year.
Q: Is it the same account as Hollister?
A: No. Hollister has its own program and terms.
Compare This To
Hollister lists a similar gift in its own program, also without an amount. American Eagle spells out a flat $5, and Altar’d State spells out 25% off a full-price order.
