What Benihana Is
Wikipedia says Benihana “is a chain of Japanese restaurants” that “spread to the United States in 1964.” The birthday reward isn’t Benihana’s alone. Friends with Benefits belongs to The ONE Group, and the same account earns points at Benihana, STK Steakhouse, Kona Grill, RA Sushi, Samurai and Salt Water Social.
How To Get The Benihana Birthday Deal
The Benihana rewards page puts it in one line: “Join and enjoy a complimentary appetizer, plus a $50 Birthday Reward, a $25 Half-Birthday Reward, and more member-only perks along the way.” Sign up on any participating brand’s website or in the app. The terms say you give your name, an email address, your birth date, a favorite location and a phone number, and that you have to be “enrolled in email communications in order to receive communications about your Loyalty Program rewards and points.” The reward then has to be turned on before you sit down: “Once activated, let your server know you have a reward when dining in restaurant.”
What The Reward Rules Say
The terms list the limits that apply to the welcome, birthday and half-birthday rewards alike: “One offer per table. Dine-in only. Not valid with any other offer or promotion. No cash value. One-time use only. Rewards expire 30 days from date activated. Blackout dates apply.” Alcohol is carved out in some places: “Rewards may not be eligible for use toward the purchase of alcohol in certain jurisdictions.” The FAQ adds a limit from the guest’s side: “only one certificate or reward may be used per guest, per check.”
Timing And Where It Works
The rewards page tells guests heading to one of the “more than 150 locations” to “sign up 24 hours prior to your reservation to ensure you can take advantage of your reward.” Rewards can be used “at any of our participating US locations across our family of brands, excluding franchises.” That makes the $50 usable at a Benihana table or at one of the sister restaurants, as long as the location is company-owned.
Kabuki Kids
Benihana has a separate birthday program for children: “just for kids ages 12 and younger.” Members get “a special email certificate for their birthday that entitles them to the free souvenir mug of their choice with the purchase of any Kabuki Kids meal.” It’s a mug, not a meal, and it has its own sign-up.
What The Old Post Claimed
An earlier version of this post described a Chef’s Table club, a free meal worth up to $30 during the birthday month, a valid ID at the restaurant and a one-adult-entree minimum. Benihana’s FAQ says “we have retired The Chefs Table program,” and the new program’s birthday reward is $50 with no ID rule or entree minimum in the terms.
What Was Actually Checked
Benihana’s rewards page, The ONE Group’s Friends with Benefits page and its Terms of Use, and Wikipedia were read on 2026-10-08. The terms show an effective date of January 15, 2026. None of the pages states a minimum spend, and none says how many days before the birthday the reward appears.
Eligibility and Cost
The terms say the program is “only available to individual legal residents of the United States, and the District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older when they enroll.” It’s free, and points are earned at 1 per $1 spent on food and non-alcoholic drinks.
