Does Gap have a birthday gift?
Yes, and it is vaguer than most lists admit. Gap Good Rewards, the Gap arm of the Gap Inc. loyalty program, gives members a birthday gift once a year. What the gift is, Gap does not say. The program terms describe it as “additional bonus points or items we’ve selected at our discretion” and leave it there.
What the terms actually commit to
One birthday gift a year, to any member, at any tier. The terms list a birthday gift under Core, Enthusiast and Icon alike with no difference between them. There is no stated dollar value, no percentage and no minimum spend.
That is worth knowing because round-up sites routinely quote Gap as running a birthday discount of a specific size. The terms do not support a number, so any post that gives you one has invented it.
Where Gap’s own pages disagree with each other
Gap’s rewards marketing describes higher tiers as adding birthday gifts you can spend on family members. The program terms do not mention that at all. Where a marketing page and a terms document disagree, the terms are what governs, so treat the family-member version as a promotion that may or may not be running rather than as a standing benefit.
You have to be a member, but there is no stated deadline
The gift goes to members, so joining is the prerequisite. Unusually for this site, Gap’s terms set no deadline for adding your birth date, where many programs require it weeks in advance. An absence is not a promise though, so joining early still costs nothing and removes the question.
What to do the rest of the year
