J.Jill gives 20% off during your birthday month, and only if you pay with the J.Jill Credit Card. The card page promises “20% off during your birthday month when you use your J.Jill Credit Card.” We found no birthday offer for shoppers without the card, and the email sign-up has no birthday field.
What J.Jill Is
Wikipedia calls J.Jill “an American womenswear retailer founded in 1955 in Massachusetts.” J.Jill’s own About page gives a later year: “J.Jill began in 1959 as one specialty store in the Berkshires of Massachusetts and evolved into a direct catalog business.” The card behind the birthday offer comes from a bank, not the store: “J.Jill Credit Card Accounts are issued by Comenity Capital Bank.”
How To Get The J.Jill Birthday Deal
Apply for the J.Jill Credit Card from the card page, then pay with it during your birthday month. The page warns that “Credit Card offers are subject to credit approval,” so this one starts with an application. The footnote also says you “Must have valid email address and U.S. mailing address with J.Jill.” It says the offer “will be received during birthday month,” but it doesn’t say whether it comes by email or in the mail, so keep an eye on both that month.
What You Get And When
The discount is 20% off a purchase made during your birthday month. The footnote has one catch for new cardholders: “Accounts that opened in your birthday month will receive the offer during your birthday month the following year.” That reads as a reason to open the card before your birthday month, not during it. If your birthday is in November, a card opened in October should be in place in time, and a card opened in November waits until next year.
The same footnote says the offer “includes the everyday 5% off J.Jill credit card discount.” We read that as the 5% being part of the 20%, not added on top of it. The pages don’t name a start or end day inside the month, a spending cap, or a list of exclusions for the birthday offer.
What The Card Pays The Rest Of The Year
Opening the card has its own welcome offer, 15% off your first two purchases. The footnote sets the rules: “Application and approval must occur same day to receive the offer. Valid one time only.” It also says the “Second 15% offer will be received in your new card package within 7-10 days after approval.” The special offers page words the same thing more loosely, “Take 15% off your first J.Jill Credit Card purchase,” so the card page is the one to trust.
After that, the card gives 5% off every purchase with your J.Jill Credit Card, as long as “The entire transaction amount after discount must be placed on the J.Jill Credit Card.” The card page also mentions free shipping events “offered throughout the year,” with a “Minimum purchase required to redeem.”
What The Email List Gives Instead
If you’d rather not apply for a card, J.Jill’s email sign-up offers “$20 Off Your First Order Of $80 Or More,” which the page limits to “first-time registrants.” The sign-up form asks for an email address, a first name, a last name and your shopping preferences, and nothing about a birthday. Shipping is separate: the offers page lists “$9.95 Flat-Rate Shipping or Free Shipping On All Orders of $150+.”
What The Old Post Claimed
An earlier version of this post said you had to join a loyalty program called J.Jill Rewards, enter your birthday in your profile, and get an emailed code for 15% off, good only on the day itself. It also promised free shipping and free returns with the discount, a free birthday club, and an extra 10% off your next purchase. The pages we read support one piece of that: you need the credit card. The birthday discount is 20%, not 15%, and it covers the whole month, not one day. We found no rewards program, no birthday club, no emailed code, no free shipping or returns tied to the birthday offer, and no extra 10%. The old post’s link to a Comenity page also led to a not-found error.
What Was Actually Checked
J.Jill’s credit card page, FAQ page, special offers page, email sign-up page, About page and returns page were read on 2026-10-13, along with Wikipedia. Guessed addresses for a rewards program, a loyalty program and a birthday club all returned not-found errors. The card page isn’t dated, and it gives no annual fee or interest rate, so we can’t tell you what the card costs.
Eligibility and Cost
You need a U.S. mailing address and a valid email address on file with J.Jill, and the card is “subject to credit approval.” The 20% itself costs nothing extra, but getting it means opening a store credit card. Whether that’s worth one month of 20% depends on how much you plan to spend, and the email offer above is the way in that doesn’t involve a credit check.
