Footaction doesn’t have a birthday discount anymore, because the Footaction name has moved into Foot Locker. Its web address now sends you to a Foot Locker page that says “As of March 24, 2022, Footaction has moved to Foot Locker.” If you want a birthday gift from the same company, Foot Locker’s is the one to go after, and it’s below.
What Footaction Was
Footaction was a chain of athletic stores that Foot Locker bought. In 2004, Foot Locker acquired the Footaction USA brand and approximately 350 stores from Footstar.
Where The Footaction Birthday Deal Went
Footaction’s web address forwards to a Foot Locker page titled “Foot Action Sunset FAQ,” headed “Welcome to Foot Locker.” Its questions cover orders that arrive after March 24, gift cards, returns and whether you keep your FLX points. None of them mentions birthdays, and Footaction has no birthday offer.
The closing wasn’t a surprise. In a results release dated May 21, 2021, Foot Locker said it had decided in the second quarter of 2021 to convert approximately one third of its Footaction stores into other existing banner concepts over the course of the year, and that it would close the majority of the remaining Footaction stores as leases expire over the next two years. Footaction had 240 stores on January 30, 2021 and 231 on May 1, 2021.
If You Used To Be A Footaction Member
Footaction Star Club memberships transferred to FLX, the program Foot Locker runs now, along with Foot Locker VIP, Kids Foot Locker VIP, Lady Foot Locker VIP, Champs Sports VIP, Six:02 Style Perks and Eastbay MemberSHIP. Foot Locker doesn’t say how a former member’s birthday information carried over, so check your FLX profile and make sure your birth month is on it.
The Birthday Gift You Can Still Get
Foot Locker’s free FLX Rewards program has a birthday gift of FLX Cash: $5 at Tier X1 and $10 at Tier X2 or X3, claimed in your dashboard. The full details, including when you can claim it and how long it lasts, are in our Foot Locker post. Champs Sports runs the same program, so one account covers both.
Eligibility and Cost
There’s nothing to join at Footaction itself. FLX Rewards, the program that replaced its membership, is free and open to people who live in the U.S., and members must be at least 13 years old to join.
