Hertz has no standing birthday reward. Its complete current loyalty terms, nearly 177,000 characters covering every region and a legacy archived version, were read in full and contain zero mention of a birthday anywhere. A genuine 5% cashback rate through TopCashback is the real option instead.
What Hertz Is
Hertz is one of the largest car rental companies in the world, with its loyalty program branded Gold Plus Rewards.
What Was Actually Checked
Gold Plus Rewards’ complete loyalty terms and conditions, covering the enrollment agreement, current North America terms, international regional terms, company account terms, and an archived legacy version of the terms, were all read in the same document and searched programmatically for every instance of “birthday.” Zero hits appear anywhere. The current Gold Plus Rewards landing page, checked separately as a second source in case a marketing-only perk existed outside the legal terms, also has no birthday mention; it lists only general perks like free membership and members-only rates.
A Real Promotional Email Exists, But It Isn’t a Program Feature
A forum post describes a member receiving a targeted email: “Enjoy a free rental day for your birthday. Need to book 3+ days.” Hertz has a documented history of sending dated, targeted promotions this same way, things like “1 free day on a 2-day rental, book by [a specific date],” aimed at some members rather than everyone. A birthday-timed version of that same style of email is consistent with Hertz’s normal promotional playbook, not a standing, guaranteed benefit written into Gold Plus Rewards’ actual terms. Separately, a real Hertz press release exists titled “Gold Plus Rewards loyalty program marks third birthday,” which is the program’s own anniversary, not a member benefit; worth naming directly since it’s an easy thing to misread as relevant.
The Real Route: A Genuine Cashback Rate
TopCashback confirms directly: “Get 5% of the price back with our Hertz Cash Back offers.” Fluz’s only listing for Hertz is its generic 1.5% virtual-card rate, which doesn’t count as a real merchant-specific route under this site’s standard.
Eligibility and Cost
Gold Plus Rewards is free to join. None of its stated tier benefits (upgrades and bonus points at the Five Star and President’s Circle levels) are birthday-specific.
