Theory’s myTheory terms list a “Birthday Promo” of 15% off for free members and 20% off for Gold and Platinum members. Joining takes an email address and nothing else, but Theory’s site refused our requests, so what follows comes from archived copies of its own pages.
What Theory Is
Wikipedia describes Theory as an “upscale men’s and women’s contemporary fashion label which sells premium clothes and accessories.” The birthday offer belongs to myTheory, the brand’s own loyalty program, and it runs on theory.com and in Theory’s U.S. stores.
How To Get The Theory Birthday Deal
Register for myTheory on theory.com. The Silver level is open to “Anyone who provides a valid e-mail address,” and the FAQ says “Our membership is free of charge.” The terms say enrollment “may require that you provide certain information, including your name, mailing address, email address, phone number and birthday,” and the register form on the archived terms page has a “Birth Date” field, so enter your real one. The pages don’t say how far ahead of your birthday you need to have joined.
What The Birthday Promo Is Worth
The tier chart in the terms has a “Birthday Promo” row: Silver gets “15% off,” Gold gets “20% off” and Platinum gets “20% off.” On a $300 coat that’s $45 off at Silver and $60 off at the top two levels. Gold takes “$750 within the Accumulation Period” and Platinum takes $1500, and the terms count that period as the calendar year you enroll plus the year after. Gold and Platinum members also get a standing tier discount, which the terms call a “Perpetual Discount,” of 10% and 15%.
What The Fine Print Limits
The Birthday Offers row on the myTheory page carries an asterisk, and the footnote reads: “Loyalty discounts only applies to full price items. Sale merchandise and Gift Cards are excluded. Valid at theory.com for shipping within the U.S and Theory US retail stores only. Offers cannot be combined, redeemed for cash or applied to previous purchases, or gift cards.” So a sale rack doesn’t count, and the promo can’t be stacked with another code. The terms also say “you must be a legal resident of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia.”
What The Old Post Claimed
An earlier version of this post called Theory the outlet division of the brand and said a birthday perk might come with the mailing list or some loyalty program. Theory Outlet is a separate set of stores, which the FAQ lists next to the full-price ones when it explains what counts toward your spend. The mailing list does give something, but it’s a welcome code: “Join our mailing list for our latest updates and enjoy 15% off your first full price order.” Its fine print says “Offer valid for 31 days from date of issue for first-time email subscribers only” and “Code is valid for one time use only,” so it isn’t a birthday offer.
What Was Actually Checked
theory.com answered a plain request, WebFetch and a browser read on 2026-10-12 with an “Access Denied” page, so the live pages couldn’t be read. The myTheory page was read from an archived copy captured on May 11, 2026, and the program terms from one captured on January 21, 2026. Neither copy says how the birthday offer reaches you (an email, a code or your account), how many days it lasts, whether it can be used more than once, or whether it works at Theory Outlet stores. Check theory.com before you count on the percentages.
Eligibility and Cost
myTheory is free and open to residents of the 50 states and D.C. The Silver level asks for a valid email address and no purchase. The terms add that the program “is not targeted towards, nor intended for use by, anyone under the age of 13.”
