You search “Costa Coffee birthday freebie” and every result describes a free cake. What none of them mention: that program is British, and the six US locations don’t have a loyalty account to redeem it on.

Six of these have a real, confirmed birthday reward
Gloria Jean’s Coffees: valid the entire calendar month of your birthday, the widest window in this batch by a wide margin. Registration required in advance.
Biggby Coffee: loads the morning of your birthday, 30 days to use it, redeemable in store only.
Scooter’s Coffee: loads a full day before your birthday, as long as you’ve made a purchase in the last year.
Caribou Coffee: posts on your birthday itself, but only if you’ve checked in through the app within the last six months. A dormant account gets nothing.
Peet’s Coffee: the strictest of the six. Enroll at least a week ahead, and have a purchase on the account within the prior six months. Miss either condition and the reward doesn’t arrive.
Dunn Brothers Coffee: real, but not guaranteed. The program’s own terms say it “may” offer a birthday reward, discretionary language rather than a commitment.
Costa Coffee’s birthday cake is real. It just isn’t available here
Costa Coffee‘s Costa Club UK birthday cake is genuinely well-documented, and genuinely not something a US reader can claim. The US operation is six shops and some vending machines, nothing resembling the loyalty infrastructure the UK program runs on.
Three more have nothing, and one has stopped existing as a café at all
The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has a real rewards program with zero birthday mention anywhere in its terms.
Blue Bottle Coffee has a support article built to answer this exact question, and the answer isn’t yes: “gifts and offers throughout the year, just because,” not a defined birthday benefit.
Seattle’s Best Coffee hasn’t operated US cafés since 2022, when Starbucks sold what remained of it to Nestlé. It’s a grocery-shelf packaged coffee brand now, with no account, no app and no location to redeem anything at, birthday or otherwise.
None of the four carry a real cashback route either; where Fluz lists them at all, it’s only the generic 1.5% card: Fluz
