JD Sports’ free STATUS program gives every member a birthday gift and A-List members an upgraded birthday gift, but JD Sports doesn’t say what either gift is. There’s no dollar amount, no percentage and no date, so here’s what the program does cover, and where it stops.
What JD Sports Is
JD’s parent company was established in 1981 with a single store in the North West of England. JD Sports Fashion plc is a British multinational sports-fashion retailer headquartered in Bury, Greater Manchester. JD bought the US retailer Finish Line for $558 million in March 2018, and the one STATUS program covers both Finish Line and JD Sports in the US.
How To Get The JD Sports Birthday Deal
Join STATUS, JD’s free customer loyalty program in the United States. It’s a joint loyalty program for customers of Finish Line and JD Sports. JD Sports doesn’t say whether STATUS asks for your birthday when you sign up or in your account settings, so check your profile for a birthday field after you join.
How The Two Levels Differ
STATUS has two levels, General Admission and A-List. General Admission is 0 to 4,999 points, and A-List starts at 5,000 points earned in a calendar year, which is $500 of spending. Every member gets a birthday gift, and A-List members get an upgraded birthday gift. JD Sports doesn’t explain either gift anywhere in the program.
The rest of the program is spelled out. Members earn 10 points per $1 spent at General Admission and 15 at A-List, and points convert to cash rewards of $5 for 1,000 points, $10 for 2,000, $15 for 3,000 and $20 for 4,000. New members also get a $20 STATUS Cash welcome gift to claim in the Rewards Shop, with 90 days to claim it. JD Sports doesn’t say the birthday gift works the same way.
What Isn’t Spelled Out
JD Sports doesn’t say what the birthday gift is, when it’s issued, how you claim it, how long it lasts or whether it’s cash, a discount or a product. The Rewards Catalog may hold things like JD Cash, exclusive offers such as discounts and free shipping, and early access to products, and rewards in the catalog may change at any time. The catalog itself sits behind a login. If you join, look in your account and your email before your birthday, and read the gift’s own terms before you plan a purchase around it.
Not The Same As The UK Program
JD’s UK site runs a program that’s also called STATUS, advertised as 10% JD Cash on your first order. That’s a separate UK program, and nothing links it to the US birthday gift. US membership requires a US address.
Eligibility and Cost
Joining is free. To be a STATUS member, you have to be a natural person who is 18 years old or older and a resident of the United States, with a valid, unique email address, mobile phone number and mailing address in the United States.
