HP Rewards is offered by HP Inc., is valid in the United States only, and is free to join. Members earn 100 points for registering, and only one set of registration points counts. The HP Rewards page and its full terms were read, along with HP’s coupons page, its Tech Takes newsletter page, the HP Business Club page and the student discount page. None contain a birthday benefit. HP’s sign-up page says only “Get faster checkout, order tracking, and exclusive deals when you sign up!” and it loads through script, so its field list couldn’t be read.
The rewards terms are specific about who’s left out. You must be at least 18 and either a consumer or a small business under 250 employees. Frontline Heroes, HP Education Store customers, employer purchase program customers and public sector customers aren’t eligible. Points “have no cash value,” they post as pending about 36 calendar days after the order ships, and once available they’re valid for 180 days. On ink and toner, points can’t be combined with HP.com Store coupons or discounts.
A Birthday Item That Isn’t a Reward
HP’s store sells an e-Gift Card design called Birthday Cupcakes. It’s artwork you pick when you buy a gift card for someone else. It doesn’t give you anything on your own birthday.
The Real Route: A Genuine Cashback Rate
Price.com lists “Earn 4% cash back at HP,” and excludes toner, ink and gift cards. Student, employee and military discounts and orders placed through the call-or-chat agents are also ineligible. TopCashback’s HP page reads “Get 2% of the price back with our HP Cash Back offers,” a flat rate with no tiers, and it excludes ink, toner, printheads, paper, EPP, Education, Military and Frontline, HP2B and Outlet, gift cards and coupon codes not shown on TopCashback. Fluz shows only its generic 1.5% store rate. Rates move, so check before you buy.
