To qualify, your birthday has to be in your profile at least seven business days before your birthday month starts. The program replaced Gap Good Rewards, and it now covers Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic and Athleta together.
What Gap Is
Wikipedia says “Gap Inc., headquartered in San Francisco, California, is an American multinational clothing and accessories retailer. The company operates four primary divisions: the namesake Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, and Athleta.” The loyalty program spans all four, under the name Gap Inc. Encore.
How To Get The Gap Birthday Deal
Sign up for Encore and put your birthday in your profile. The terms say “Membership is free and optional. No purchase required to sign up.” You must be a US resident, including Puerto Rico, who is “at least 16 years old,” and “The Program is limited to the United States, including Puerto Rico, only.”
What The Birthday Gift Is
The terms, effective April 8, 2026, say “As a member, you will be eligible to receive a birthday gift once a year if your birthday is included in your profile at least seven business days before the first day of your birthday month. The birthday gift may vary and will be selected at our discretion.” That’s all the description there is. No dollar amount, percentage, code or delivery method is stated, and the terms don’t say how long the gift lasts or what it excludes.
The Tiers And The Family Gift
“There are three tiers of membership: CORE, PREMIER and ALL-ACCESS.” PREMIER takes “Minimum Qualifying Purchases of $350 per year,” and ALL-ACCESS is for credit cardmembers. The tiers change who gets a gift. The terms say “PREMIER Members celebrate with an extra gift to shop for a family member,” and “ALL-ACCESS Cardmembers celebrate with an extra gift to shop for up to three family members.” The program page words the same thing as “Enjoy a birthday bonus, on us” for Core, with a family member added at Premier and up to three at All-Access.
The Fine Print On The Gift
A footnote on the program page says “Birthday: For eligible program members and their designated family members only. Gift selected in Gap Inc.’s discretion and may be subject to additional terms and conditions.” So the gift can come with its own conditions that aren’t listed in advance. Read whatever you receive before planning a purchase around it.
An Old Version Is Still Online
A set of terms dated July 20, 2021 is still live on the Athleta site. It describes older tier names and says “The birthday gift may be additional bonus points or items we’ve selected at our discretion.” That wording was dropped from the current terms, so the “bonus points” idea no longer has a written source. An earlier version of this post used the old Good Rewards name and tiers, and said there was no deadline for adding your birth date. The current terms do set one.
What Was Actually Checked
The Encore program page, the current loyalty terms (hosted on the Old Navy site), the 2021 terms and Wikipedia were read on 2026-10-06. The old Gap Good Rewards address no longer works without its category ID. No page read states the gift amount, so this post doesn’t give one.
