SteelSeries has no birthday reward for customers, and the “GG Birthday Bash” you may run into was an app anniversary sweepstakes that ended on July 7, 2025. What’s real is a 2% Price.com cashback rate, a 20% student discount and a newsletter offer for first-time subscribers.
What SteelSeries Is
Wikipedia says “SteelSeries, formerly Icemat, is a Danish manufacturer of gaming peripherals and accessories, including headsets, keyboards, mice, controllers, and mousepads,” and adds “SteelSeries was acquired by GN Store Nord in 2021.” If you’re shopping for a headset or mouse near your birthday, the useful thing to know is that the money comes from cashback and the student rate, not from a birthday perk.
The GG Birthday Bash Is An App Party, Not A Perk
SteelSeries’ archived Birthday Bash page reads “Thanks for celebrating 4 years of GG!” and, once the event ended, “This party is over, but stay tuned for the next one!” The FAQ says “The birthday bash ended July 7th at 11:59pm.” The official rules describe a sweepstakes that ran from 12:00 AM CT on June 24, 2025 to 11:59 PM CT on July 7, 2025, with “GN Hearing Care Corporation DBA SteelSeries” as the sponsor, and they say “NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN A PRIZE IN THIS SWEEPSTAKES.”
Entering meant opting in with an email and signing in to the GG app, then collecting “Candles” by doing things like trying a Sonar preset, saving a Moments clip and playing a 3D Aim Trainer game. The campaign page listed a “30% off discount” among the prizes, and the rules tie the first prize tier to opting in and signing in to the app, with a discount code good for one item on steelseries.com under separate terms. It was a party for the GG software’s birthday, so your own birthday wasn’t part of the deal. The live addresses for those pages now redirect to SteelSeries’ home page, which doesn’t mention a birthday event, and the only promise of another party is that “stay tuned” line.
What SteelSeries Does Offer
Students get the biggest standing discount: “Through our partnership with Student Beans, students can get 20% off.” New subscribers to the newsletter get a smaller one, and the page says “new subscribers enjoy 10% off any full price purchase.” SteelSeries words that offer as temporary, so confirm it’s live when you sign up. Its home page also carries a banner about “Exclusive Discounts & Benefits” for logging in or signing up, though the banner itself doesn’t say what they are.
The Real Route: A Genuine Cashback Rate (2% at Price.com)
Price.com’s SteelSeries page reads “Earn 2% cash back at SteelSeries,” and lists no cap or exclusions. TopCashback has a SteelSeries page too, but it shows no rate, only the line “Get money back every time you shop with over 7,000 merchants,” so there’s no TopCashback number to count on. Fluz’s SteelSeries address returned a 404. Rates move, so check the current number before you order.
What Was Actually Checked
SteelSeries’ home page, student page, terms and giveaways pages were searched for the word “birthday,” and none of them mention a birthday reward. Its rewards address returned a 404. The Birthday Bash page and its rules are archived copies from 2025, since the live addresses now redirect to the home page. The Price.com and TopCashback pages were read for their rates and terms.
Eligibility and Cost
Price.com’s extension is free to add, and its page says purchases “will typically show in your wallet as pending in 7 days,” with cash back added “in approximately 90 days.” Student pricing goes through Student Beans, so you’ll verify there. The newsletter discount applies to full-price purchases, which leaves sale items out.
