Verizon has no birthday reward. Its loyalty program, Verizon Shine with Verizon Dollars, says nothing about birthdays on any page or in any of its terms. If you’re switching or adding a line, a real cashback bonus through Price.com is the route that actually pays.
What Verizon Is
Verizon is one of the largest wireless carriers in the United States. It sells phone plans, home internet and devices, and its own fact sheet counts roughly 147.0 million wireless retail connections, along with 17.1 million fixed wireless and fiber connections.
The company dates to June 30, 2000, when Bell Atlantic Corp. and GTE Corp. combined to create Verizon Communications. Its corporate headquarters is on the Avenue of the Americas in New York, and day-to-day operations run out of Basking Ridge, New Jersey. If you’ve been a customer for a while, the part that matters here is that Verizon relaunched its rewards on June 16, 2026, so anything you remember about the old program is out of date.
What Was Actually Checked
Five Verizon pages on the current program were read in full: the loyalty page, the June 16 announcement, the Shine terms, the Shine FAQ and the Verizon Dollars terms. None of them mention a birthday. The FAQ is direct about what changed: “Verizon Shine is a new program that replaces Verizon Access / myAccess.” No Verizon page mentions Verizon Up, so there’s no official word on when that older name ended.
What the program does give is money back for being a customer. Verizon’s loyalty page puts it this way: “3% cash back every month in Verizon Dollars. Just for being a customer.” It also lists weekly wins every Monday and daily drops, and a Verizon Visa card that earns 4% on gas, groceries, dining and Verizon store purchases and 1% on everything else. Verizon’s privacy policy does list date of birth among the information customers provide, but only as a data category, with no rewards use stated. The profile-creation page, reached through Sign in and then Register, asks for an email address and a password and nothing else, so there’s no birthday field to fill in.
A Circulating Claim Doesn’t Check Out
The claim that Verizon gives a special birthday discount doesn’t hold up. Nothing on Verizon’s own loyalty pages, terms or FAQ says so, and a claim with no source on Verizon’s side isn’t treated as real here. If a birthday offer does show up from Verizon in the mail or in the app, that’s new information, and it would be worth a screenshot.
The Real Route: A Genuine Cashback Rate
Price.com lists Verizon at up to $68 cash back. Most of that is flat bonuses for new service rather than a percentage of what you spend: $67.50 for a new service plan, $27 for an additional phone line and $27 for a prepaid service plan. Fluz shows only its generic 1.5% store rate for Verizon, which isn’t a Verizon-specific offer, so it isn’t counted. Cashback rates move, so check the current tier before you sign up for a line.
Eligibility and Cost
Shine covers eligible US postpaid mobile accounts with a smartphone or tablet, or postpaid Home Internet. Lines for children under 18 are excluded. Verizon’s terms say there’s no need to enroll, but you have to use the My Verizon app to use it.
Verizon Dollars equal 3% of the total monthly bill and post 10 to 12 days after the bill due date. For customers without the Verizon Visa, Dollars expire 12 months after they’re issued, and non-Visa customers must enroll with the My Verizon app. The cashback bonuses on Price.com are tied to new service, so they don’t apply to a line you already have.
